National Guard troops from 3 states head to DC as some residents question need for them

An Arlington man shot and killed his mother at a home in the Virginia Square neighborhood, police say.

Logan Chrisinger, 27, was arrested Sunday morning and charged with first-degree murder in the death of his mother, 57-year-old Travis Renee Baldwin, Arlington County police said.

Someone called police about the shooting in the 3400 block of Fairfax Drive just before 8:30 a.m. The area isn’t far from the Virginia Sq-GMU Metro station.

When officers arrived, they found Baldwin, of Winchester, suffering from a gunshot wound. She died a short time later at a hospital, police said.

Chrisinger stayed at the residence when police got there.

He’s in jail without bond, police said.

Police haven’t given any information yet about a possible motive for or what led up to the shooting.
