The family of a Maryland teen is holding a vigil Sunday at the same spot in Langley Park where her car and belongings were found shortly after her disappearance.
The family said 19-year-old DaCara Thompson went missing Aug. 22 after leaving her father’s house in Lanham.
Surveillance video shared with News4 by Thompson’s father was allegedly taken from a home near where her suv was found, close to the intersection of jasmine terrace and riggs road in langley park, where the vigil is being held.
He said it appears to show her walking away from the car at around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, about three hours after she left his home.
News4 has been in constant communication with Thompson’s parents, who say they have no idea why she would come to this neighborhood and are desperate to find her.
Starting at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, people were already meeting at Jasmine Terrace and Riggs Road.
Her father tried to contact her that night. He said she told him she was getting gas near their home and would be back, but the next day she didn’t return. That’s when they tracked her car and found it parked in front of a fire hydrant near the intersection of Jasmine Terrace and Riggs road in Langley Park.
Her parents said they have not heard from or seen their daughter ever since. They said her phone was not left in the car, and they said it has been disabled.
Prince George’s County police told News4 they are investigating this incident. Thompson is not considered critically missing because she is 19 and already an adult.
Her parents hold on to hope that they may soon find their daughter and ask for anyone that may have information to contact police.
