A driver crashed into a crowd at a child’s birthday party in Bladensburg, Maryland, on Saturday, injuring 11 people. Several children aged 2 to 9 were among the injured, police said.
A driver came from the direction of Annapolis Road and hit several people gathered outside a home in the 4100 block of 56th Avenue for the birthday party, police Bladensburg police said. Officers rushed to the scene about 10:15 p.m., police said.
The driver ran away from the crash scene, and police are trying to identify and locate them, police said. On Sunday morning, a spokesperson said no one had been arrested yet.
Seven children were sent to Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C., and their injuries are not considered life-threatening, police said.
Three other injured people were sent to UM Capital Region Medical Center in Largo, Maryland, and one went to Howard University Hospital in D.C., Bladensburg police said.
