Loudoun County deputies have arrested a man for selling drugs after overdoses involving high school students, authorities say.
Isaac Melendez-Carranza, 31, was arrested on Thursday and charged with two counts of distributing a controlled substance and one count of “sale of drugs near certain properties,” the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office said.
The sheriff’s office said its drug and gang unit identified Melendez-Carranza as a suspect after overdoses involving Park View High School students in May.
Authorities didn’t give anymore information about the students who overdosed or their conditions. It’s not clear how many students overdosed.
Investigators believe the drugs contained fentanyl, a potent opioid that can be deadly even in small amounts.
Park View High School has had issues with students using opioids in recent years, with nine opioid-related overdoses in 2023 alone.
