Virginia's first Buc-ee's is open. Here's how far it is from DC

The Buc-ee’s craze has reached the commonwealth.

Crowds of people came out Monday for the grand opening of Virginia’s first Buc-ee’s off of Interstate 81 in Rockingham County, just south of Harrisonburg.

The Texas-based chain is known for its massive convenience stores that sell barbeque, homemade fudge, Beaver nuggets and Buc-ee’s merchandise.

Driving out to the Buc-ee’s from D.C. takes about two hours or so depending on traffic. But those who want to see what all the hype is about won’t have to worry about finding fuel for the trip home. The Buc-ee’s has 120 gas pumps.

The 74,000-square-foot location is the first outside of the southern United States. It’s also Buc-ee’s 69th store.
