DC police officer charged with DWI, accused of trying to take officer's gun

A D.C. police officer allegedly assaulted two Virginia police officers and tried to take one officer’s gun Sunday night.

According to Alexandria police, officers responded to reports of a crash on Russell Road about 8 p.m. Police detained a suspect for possible intoxicated driving and took him to a hospital where he allegedly attacked two police officers and tried to take one of their weapons.

The suspect was subdued, and no one was injured.

The suspect, identified as D.C. police Officer Trevon King, is charged with DWI, operating a vehicle on a suspended license and sexual battery. Sources familiar with the incident said King tried to grope one of the officers.

King, who has five years on the D.C. police force, was placed on administrative leave, a Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson told News4. An internal investigation has been launched.

King was listed as active duty prior to the incident despite having his driver’s license suspended. Officers are required to notify the department when their driving privileges are suspended, an MPD spokesperson told News4.
