‘Inspect all candy': Needles found in Halloween candy in Rockville

Needles were found in children’s Halloween candy in Rockville, Maryland, according to reports to the city’s police department.

Two children were given packages of gummy bears “containing sewing needles embedded inside the candy,” Rockville police said in a statement on Saturday, citing reports they received.

The kids got the candy in the area of Welsh Drive and W. Edmonston Drive, police said.

It wasn’t immediately clear who put the needles in the candy or why. Police warned families to be cautious.

“We are actively investigating and want to remind all parents and guardians to carefully inspect all candy and treats before consumption,” police said.

Anyone who finds suspicious candy is asked to hold on to it and call police to file a report.
