‘I don't have no need for them:' Man killed in motorcycle crash donates organs

In the midst of their own heartache and grief, Claulette Jordan and her family are thinking about the lives of strangers.

“My son means the world to me,” she told News4. “As a mother and he being 26 years old, there’s another mother or father out there that may be able to see their children a lot longer.”

Their loved one, 26-year-old Darius Jackson Jordan, suffered life-threatening injuries and severe brain damage after a collision in Mechanicsville, Maryland, on Saturday afternoon.

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office says Darius Jordan was riding his motorcycle near Three Notch Road. Another driver failed to yield the right of way, and Jordan’s motorcycle hit the car.

Jordan’s family received word about his condition worsening throughout the weekend and into Monday — and remembered his longing to help others.

“We talked about this and he said to me, he said, ‘Mom, well when I’m gone, I don’t have no need for them,'” Claulette Jordan said.

“This family believes in life,” she added.

On Tuesday night, loved ones gathered outside Medstar Washington Hospital for an honor walk.

As they made the trek from inside to outside, they remembered Darius Jordan’s kind and gentle spirit as he was taken to an operating room to take his organs and tissue in hopes of saving the lives of countless others.

“I just thank God for giving me the strength to be able to make that decision and be strong about it,” Claulette said.

“When the time comes, please do the thing and remember life,” she added. “That life continues even in the midst of tragedy.”
