Flurries are in the forecast for Friday, but a more substantial snowfall is headed our way over the weekend.
Storm Team4 said about 1 to 3 inches of snowfall is expected in the D.C. area within the Interestate 95 corridor from late Saturday night through Sunday morning.
If you have holiday shopping to do or plan to get a Christmas tree, Saturday morning and afternoon will be the best time to get those errands done.
Saturday will be warmer with high temperatures in the 40s and mostly dry before the snow moves in later at night.
“Most of the snow is going to move in after about 10 p.m. on Saturday night and it’s going to stick with us through Sunday morning,” Meteorologist Lauryn Ricketts said.

Ricketts said snow will clear out by Sunday afternoon.
Any snowfall will stick mainly to the eastern side of the Blue Ridge Mountains, she said.
“Shenandoah Valley may get a little dusty maybe up to 1 inch, but most of this is going to be on the east side of the mountains,” Ricketts said.
Main roads should be OK, but secondary roads will likely be covered, Ricketts said.
Wind chills are expected to drop close to 0° Sunday overnight into Monday so it’s possible there could be some impacts to the Monday morning commute and school closings or delays.
The first widespread snowfall of the season brought upwards of 3 inches to some areas Friday.
