An unusual bird is playing chicken with people parking outside a Loudoun County building.
Meet Gravy, the turkey that has seemingly taken up permanent residence outside a building off Route 7.

The parking lot that Gravy calls home is just outside the building for Shenandoah University’s satellite campus. It’s also the location for an oncology rehab and physical therapy clinic.
That means that students, patients getting rehab after cancer treatment and staff for both institutions have been facing a unique problem every morning and evening since before Thanksgiving.
According to one Loudoun County resident, “Gravy can be found most mornings stationed at or near the revolving door, where he personally ‘greets’ therapists, patients and SU students as they arrive.
“His hospitality is unmatched — sometimes to the point where he simply doesn’t want people to leave,” the resident told News4. “Gravy has been known to stand in front of cars, block doors, and calmly refuse to move while drivers wait, keys in hand, negotiating with a turkey.”
It’s not clear where Gravy came from, whether he has made a home nearby, or if he got lost on his way to or from another location.
News4 spotted Gravy on Friday afternoon, walking around the outside of the building and peering through windows.
According to the tip emailed to News4, despite his mysterious origin and motive, Gravy “has become an unofficial mascot, morale booster and occasional traffic obstacle.”
The wild turkey shows no signs of leaving anytime soon.
