Measles patient went to 3 places in Lorton. Check times and locations

Virginia’s eighth measles patient went to three locations in Northern Virginia, the state health department said in a warning about the highly contagious illness prevented through vaccination.

The patient is an adult who had recently traveled internationally, the health department said in a statement Monday. They went to three places from Wednesday to Saturday:

  • Giant Food, at 8941 Ox Road in Lorton, between 3:30 and 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11.
  • Inova-GoHealth Urgent Care – Lorton Marketplace, at 9427 Lorton Market St. in Lorton, between 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13.
  • Inova HealthPlex Lorton Emergency Room, at 9321 Sanger St. in Lorton, between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Saturday Feb. 14.

Health officials said they are working to identify people who were potentially exposed.

If you think you could have been exposed, the health department asks that you complete a brief survey. Check if you have been vaccinated against measles or have previously had it, and make sure your vaccinations are up to date.

“Measles is preventable through a safe and effective MMR vaccine. Two doses of the vaccine are given to provide lifetime protection,” the state health department said.
