The site of Six Flags America in Prince George’s County, Maryland, has been sold to an investment group that includes NBA superstar Kevin Durant, a native of the county, News4 learned.
The 515-acre amusement park closed for good in November. There has been much speculation about what might happen with the property and the best use of the land going forward.
The park, which had been open for decades, brought the county about $3 million in annual revenue.
County leaders have said they want new development that would operate year-round instead of seasonally and bring in more tax dollars.
There’s no word yet on what the new owner intends to do with the property.
News of the park’s closure last year came just after the Washington Commanders announced a decision to leave the county for a new stadium being built in D.C., causing concerns about having two vacant attractions in the county.
