Two men were shot on 18th Street just off of Benning Road in Northeast D.C. Monday afternoon, D.C. police said.
Officers found the two men both conscious and breathing, according to investigators. Paramedics took both of the men to a hospital.
This is right near a church that’s at the corner of 18th and Gales Street.
This shooting happened at the exact time that a gun violence prevention training session for young people was going on. The shooting happened while they were all inside that church, so it is not immediately clear if there is a connection, but D.C. police have been seen coming in and out of the church.
Some of the parents of people in the training program have shown up to the scene extremely, extremely upset.
The attendees may have had to shelter in place.
