A man has life-threatening injuries after another man hit his car, took off and then stabbed him in Alexandria this weekend, authorities say.
Officers were called to the 800 block of W. Glebe Road at about 12:40 a.m. Saturday for a reported stabbing. They found a man suffering from a stab wound. He was taken to a hospital.
Witnesses gave officers a description of the suspect, his car and the license plate number.
Officers then learned “the assault was preceded by a hit-and-run crash that occurred earlier on Mount Vernon Avenue. A subsequent encounter between the individuals on W. Glebe Road resulted in the stabbing,” police said in a statement.
Officers found the car, pulled over the driver and arrested him. Edvin Lopez Garin, 43, of Alexandria, was taken into custody and charged with felony hit-and-run and malicious wounding.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with potentially relevant information is asked to contact police.
