Storms throughout Maryland left behind downed trees, power outages and other damage on Saturday.
One Montgomery County homeowner found snapped tree limbs and large branches scattered across his front yard in Dickerson, Maryland.
“Glad it didn’t hit the house,” he said. “This is like the third bad storm we’ve had like this that big branches like this off the tree.”
Further down the street, part of a tree fell on a power line, leading to power outages. Video shows heavy downpours paired with gusty winds making it difficult for people to drive in Brookville.
An early round of thunderstorms left behind a charred house in Gaithersburg. Residents say lightning struck a house’s roof, leaving it engulfed in flames early Saturday morning.
Pictures show flames shooting into the air as thick, black smoke rose from the house. Five people inside the home was able to make it outside without any injuries, according to Montgomery County fire officials.
