Washington Monument to be lit up for 5 nights with moments of ‘American story'

The Washington Monument will be illuminated with a projection every night through Sunday, July 5.

The recurring, 18-minute projection show will feature “the people, places, and moments that shaped the American story, ending with the Monument glowing as a giant birthday candle,” Freedom 250 officials said.

Like the light show on New Year’s Eve, all four sides of the monument will feature projections, accomplished through digital mapping.

The shows are set to start at 9 p.m. and conclude at 12:20 a.m. and can be viewed from anywhere you can see the monument. But to catch the full show, the best place to watch is on the Mall, officials said.
