Man suspected of killing woman in Montgomery County apartment building

A woman was found stabbed to death in an apartment tower in Montgomery County after a man was reported to have jumped from the building, authorities say. The case is being investigated as a murder-suicide.

Andrea Guirola and Demetreis Lee were both pronounced dead at The Warwick Apartments in the 1100 block of University Boulevard West on Wednesday. They both were 28.

First responders were called to the building at about 12:55 p.m. for a report that a man had jumped from the building. They arrived and found Lee dead.

Officers searched the building and found Guirola with stab wounds in a hallway on the 21st floor. Crews tried to save her, but she died.

A witness told investigators that Lee stabbed Guirola inside an apartment. She was able to escape the apartment but collapsed in the hall, police said.

A knife that police believe was used in the stabbing was found outside.

Police described the case as “domestic-related” but did not say how Guirola and Lee were connected or if officers were previously called to the apartment.

The medical examiner will determine their official causes and manners of death. Anyone with potentially relevant information is asked to contact police.
