Boy, 9, struck and killed by car in Manassas

A 9-year-boy was struck and killed by a car in Manassas, Virginia, Monday night.

The boy left his home and was running across Centreville Road near Leland Road when a northbound 2012 Honda Civic struck him about 10:20 p.m., police said. The boy was not in a crosswalk or other safe area to cross.

Passersby performed CPR until the boy was taken to a hospital where he later died.

The driver of the Civic, a 30-year-old Centreville man, stayed at the scene. He has not been charged in the boy’s death but was charged with driving without a license.

Northern Virginia Bureau reporter Drew Wilder will have more about this story on News4 at 4, 5 and 6.
