Road closures around the National Mall will begin tonight for President Donald Trump’s rally ahead of the big fair celebrating America’s 250th birthday.
The Great American State Fair starts Thursday.
Expect road closures and changes to Metro service from today through July.
Those visiting the fair will have to go through screening at one of the security gates on either the 12th or 7th streets on the National Mall.

Here’s a full list of road closures for Wednesday, June 24, according to officials.
The following streets will be posted as Emergency No Parking from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.:
• Constitution Avenue from 15th Street to 7th Street, NW
The following streets will be closed to vehicular traffic from approximately 6:15 p.m. to 9 p.m.:
• 14th Street from Constitution Avenue, NW to Independence Avenue, SW
• 12th Street Expressway
The following street may be intermittently closed to vehicle traffic for public safety:
• 7th Street from Constitution Avenue, NW to Independence Avenue, SW
Metro said the Smithsonian station’s National Mall side entrance will be closed on Wednesday from 2:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at the request of Secret Service.

Some Metro Bus routes are impacted by the Great American State Fair and associated events. These service impacts are late night only, according to Metro.
Impacted routes are D30, D40 and D60 buses. The detours began Tuesday and run until Sunday, July 12 at 11:59 p.m. For more details, visit here.
The National Park Service says the following areas will be closed or restricted to the public due to both the fair and the FIFA Fan Zone through Friday, July 24:
Area of National Mall bordered by 4th Street, Madison Drive NW, 7th Street and Jefferson Drive SW
This area is closed to the public until Wednesday, July 17 at 11:59 p.m. except for the dates and times listed below.
The site will open to the public starting about 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, and there will be security screening and capacity limits during the times indicated below through Friday, July 10 at 11 p.m.
At the below times, the site is open other than the areas being used to run the event.
- Wednesday, June 24: from about 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
- Thursday, June 25 – Saturday, June 27: 10 a.m. until 11 p.m., daily
- Sunday, June 28 – Tuesday, June 30: 10 a.m. until 9 p.m., daily
- Wednesday, July 1 – Friday, July 3: 10 a.m. until 11 p.m., daily.
- Saturday, July 4: 10 a.m. until midnight.
- Sunday, July 5 – Wednesday, July 8: 10 a.m. until 9 p.m., daily.
- Thursday, July 9 – Friday, July 10: 10 a.m. until 11 p.m., daily.
The public is not allowed in those areas being utilized for event logistics and services within the impacted area that are delineated by fencing, signage or other measures.
Area of National Mall bordered by 7th Street, Madison Drive NW, 14th Street and Jefferson Drive SW
This area will be fully closed to the public until about 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2026. Times on this date might change based on operational and law-enforcement needs. See below for exceptions to this closure.
The area will open to the public from about 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 24 through Friday, July 10 at 11 p.m. Expect security screenings and capacity limits during the times indicated below.
