Bill Nye speaks out at Arlington ‘No Kings' protest

The “No Kings” movement made its way to Northern Virginia Saturday, where dozens of protests were held.

Hundreds of people took to the streets in Alexandria, Fairfax, Springfield, and other communities across the Commonwealth to rally against the Trump administration’s policies.

One of the largest demonstrations in Northern Virginia was put on by advocacy group We of Action Virginia. Protestors held up signs at about 20 bridges across Arlington — including one protester you may recognize.

D.C. local Bill Nye the Science Guy is no stranger to No Kings Day events and has participated in all three No Kings Days.

“The U.S. is headed for authoritarianism unless we stop this,” Nye told News4. “It’s headed for the equivalent of a dictatorship, and we don’t want that.”

He brought a pocket version of the U.S. Constitution with him and quoted some of the parts he feels the Trump administration is violating.

“The one for me is that Congress is supposed to promote the progress of science and use of arts, and we have people in the U.S. government who are denying science.”

The first ever No Kings Day was in June 2025 on president Donald Trump’s birthday. Then there was another in October. Saturday’s protests are being called No Kings 3.

“I just think the country is sliding into fascism and totalitarianism with all of the politics Trump’s doing,” Ed Harkness, a protester, said.

Chopper4 spotted crowds all across the DMV taking part.

“I just love young, old, all of us are here in this together and braving the cold and doing what we need to do to take that message all the way to the top,” said Michaela Pond, who founded We of Action Virginia. “No kings in America.”

Organizers say participation has grown with each No Kings Day as demonstrators make their feelings about the Trump administration known.

“I just wanted to in every way express my support for American democracy, the American constitution, American freedoms,” said protester Jane Jensen, who said this was her first time participating.

News4 reached out to the White house ahead of the No Kings Day demonstrations. A spokesperson responded with a statement that said, “The only people who care about these Trump Derangement Therapy Sessions are the reporters who are paid to cover them.”
